The Accord will be available in three variants, coming in both automatic and manual transmissions — Accord 2.4 litre (Rs 16.49 lakh and Rs 17.24 lakh for the automatic variant), Accord 2.4 litre Elegance (Rs 16.79 lakh to Rs 17.54 lakh for the automatic variant) and Accord 2.4 litre Inspire (Rs 17.39 lakh to Rs 18.14 lakh for the automatic variant). Although the car is much bigger, Honda has not compromised on driving pleasure and fuel economy. At the heart of the Honda Accord is Honda's 2.4litre i-VTEC engine delivering 180 PS, which adds 10 PS more than the outgoing Accord, while the fuel efficiency is up by 8%. It meets euro-IV emission and is E-10 (10% ethanol and 90% unleaded petrol) compatible. Accord's 5-speed manual and automatic transmission comes with Paddle shift system (gear controls strapped on the steering wheel). The automatic transmission now comes with a added feature called a Shift Holding System, which avoids unnecessary gear shifting on winding roads and helps in hassle free drive. The chassis and the body have been renewed by introducing Honda's latest technology. Together with Variable Gear Ratio (VGR) steering, the new Accord becomes quicker and agile. It has a new multi – link rear suspension system for a more stable driving. The new comes with higher safety. It is equipped with the best of safety technologies, with intelligent six airbags, including side curtain air bags, advanced compatibility engineering (ACE) body and G-force control technology (G-CON) for enhanced safety of the vehicle occupants during a collision. The use of high-tensile steel has been considerably increased (from 38% in the phased car to 40% in the new Accord) improving torsion rigidity, while also achieving major weight savings.
The interior design blends luxury with advanced functionality, includes eight-way power seat adjustment with lumbar support, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, an advanced integrated audio system with a centre multi–selector and USB port. For this chauffeur driven segment, HSCI has customised some features to suit the Indian customer's driving habits. So, the car has audio controls, AC vents and reading lights at the rear.
