IT’S the latest in the luxury line up from Lexus,Toyota’s top line brand.Last week, Toyota announced that it will roll out the new Lexus IS F sports sedan in Japan this December.The car will also likely be a part of the Tokyo Motor Show later this month. Lexus is looking sell around 450-500 units a year.
The model,which is a front-engine,rearwheel-drive vehicle,will be kitted out in a brand new 5 litre V8 engine complete with an 8-speed sport direct shift automatic transmission.In driverability terms,you will be able to zoom from 0-100 in less than 5 seconds flat. The car will also boast aluminum wheels and will likely build in many of the race car bells and whistles that it’s DNA demands.The IS F sports sedan has been tested mostly in race tracks across the world and has therefore totted up a decent amount of racing experience before debuting as a street car.
The Tokyo Motor Show will see a slew of nifty sports cars this year.Car makers looking for better margins and volume excitement have suddenly turned to this segment and as many as three top Japanese marques are rolling out sports sedans.Mitsubishi Motors launched its new Lancer Evolution X sports car earlier this month and Nissan Motor has already announced it decision to roll out the new Nissan GT-R sports vehicle in December. The Lexus IS F will be available globally by the first half of 2008.
