Outlining the company's plans for all segments of the Indian auto market, Thomas Kadicheeni, General Manager, Volkswagen India says," We plan on catering to every segment with our 'top-down' approach.We started with the C segment Passat and shall move on to include the Polo, followed by the Jetta up for Rs 9 lakhs upwards, in both petrol and diesel versions in manual and automatic mode.
We shall be launching the small car Up in 2010 in the Rs 3 lakh bracket which will break away from the Beetle mould. From the SUV stable we plan to roll out the Touareg followed by the Phaeton.The glamorous Tiguan is slated for a 2008 launch."
Gurjit Singh, Chairman of the PCH Group and dealer for Volkswagen in South India, is upbeat about the performance of the car major in the Bangalore market. "Volkswagen has big plans for India given their technical edge in auto manufacture especially in the diesel lineage.The Passat has been received extremely well. On the service part, we are working on building good service facilities and currently we shall be starting an interim facility for Passat at 100 Feet Road in Indiranagar on November 9.We are planning well in advance to make all these swish cars easily available in the market.The run-up to Diwali has been pretty promising and the confidence is building up for big buys."
