The Audi badge may not have as much flash value as a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz with their
conservative designs, but they certainly do make luxurious cars with great class. The A8 has a monstrous W12, but the excellent 4.2-litre V8 petrol, belting out 335 horsepower is a better bet. The 3-litre TDi should come around in some time too. The 4.2 litre with Audi’s ‘Quattro’ system – basically four-wheel drive in Audi terminology – may not be the best choice if you are looking for mileage figures.
Ride is very, very good. It is firmer and more taut than the S-Class, but not quite as harsh-riding as the 7-Series. The ship handles surprisingly well too.
If you have an Audi dealer near you, you’re in good shape as far as service is concerned. Value is not too hot, honestly. This is the thinking man’s limousine, very understated design but spot-on with such luxury and performance.
